In the course of my errand-running today I saw something that was a bit of a head-scratcher. Florescent-colored shirts are gaining in popularity, it seems, as many folks who work on or near roadways wear them, including the recycling workers, pavement crews, delivery drivers (I'm surprised that UPS hasn't figured out a way to incorporate more reflective piping in their uniforms), and so on.
Apparently, the guy I saw riding a scooter on Taylorsville Road today was such a worker on his way to his job. The usual sense of such wear is that it also increases safety awareness in one wearing it, but this guy wasn't too worried about safety--he was not wearing a helmet, or even sunglasses, as he rode his scooter down the road.
