On a rainy Sunday, with what little hopes I had of riding a century washed away, I was poking around online for a while. A discussion on bentrideronline's forum regarding traffic lights led me to a slide show presented here, most notably, here.

With due credit to Dual Chase Productions, LLC, I'll present one of their slides.




I really like this one for many reasons. It shows how a cyclist should situate himself/herself in an intersection to be "seen" by the sensors that operate the traffic light. Coincidentally, such intersection placement also serves the function of making the cyclist FAR more visible to other traffic in and around the intersection, aiding in the eventual safe passage of the cyclist through the intersection once it's legal to proceed.

Their slide shows could be some nice teaching tools. I may have to invest in them.
