VOTE

As I type this, it is Monday morning, the first of November. We have had to listen to a season of ugliness in campaigns ranging from School Board to US Senator, with candidates ranging from out-of-touch to outright looney. I'm sick to death of having to vote against an even more idiotic candidate, but vote I will.

I would like very much to be able to vote FOR someone instead of against someone else. I've only been able to do that once or twice in my life. It's axiomatic that the folks who would do the best job in elected positions are not willing to do what it takes to get to those positions.

Even so, and even though I will have to hold my metaphorical nose while in the confines of the voting booth, I will vote. I have to do my patriotic duty to try to keep the more severe nutcases out of office.

Due to my recent change in residence, I won't be able to vote this time around.

I don't consider it a big loss, as as you say, I'd have to "hold my (metaphorical) nose" while voting anyway.

Next time I'll be ready though.
